‘In Conversations with Artists’: Cid Palacio – Painter, Gallery Owner, Teacher
The Tweed & Area Arts Council (T&AAC) is pleased to announce the fourth artist in the series ‘In Conversation with Artists’.
Every three months the work of a featured artist is displayed in various venues throughout the village of Tweed. The artist and venues are announced on the T&AAC website, social media (Facebook and Instagram) and in The Tweed News. At each venue a poster with a QR code will take the viewer to the T&AAC website where you can find a short story (like this one!) and link to a video of the artist in conversation about their work and inspiration on T&AAC’s YouTube channel.
Our featured artist for April – June, 2025 is Cid Palacio: painter, gallery owner and teacher. A selection of Cid’s work is on display at the Tweed Public Library, Quinn’s of Tweed Fine Art Gallery and in the atrium of the Marble Arts Centre.
A bit about Cid:
Cid Palacio was born and raised in a small fishing village on Terceira Island, Azores. She immigrated to Toronto, Canada when she was13, lived there until 2020, when she moved to Madoc in eastern Ontario.
Cid is a self-taught mixed media abstract and non-representational artist. She first picked up a paint brush in 2008 and has since experimented with a variety of painting mediums, surfaces, and styles. Embracing the expressive freedom of abstraction, she continuously explores diverse painting techniques and styles, allowing her work to evolve organically.
Cid founded Canada’s first creative arts charity for people living with cancer in 2010, (The Art for Cancer foundation), which she ran until 2020.
She is a member of The Art Tour Collective, The Belleville Art Association, and the Federation of Canadian Artists.
Her art has been widely exhibited and is featured in private collections across North America and Europe. In addition to creating in her Madoc studio, Cid is also the owner of ART on 62 Fine Art Gallery where she fosters a vibrant community of artists and art lovers.
Let her tell you more about it in the video interview.
