Savannah Van Niedek
SavvyLikeThat Fiber Arts Studio was born from a deep fascination with colour theory, the tactile nature of hand-dyed yarns and fiber and the rhythmic meditation of the loom. Every piece is a testament to the slow craft movement, utilizing heritage techniques in modern ways that transform raw organic fibers into contemporary art and textiles. Savannah’s philosophy centers on the intersection of craftsmanship and creativity, ensuring that every knot and thread carries the story of play, exploration, and skill.
Savannah’s studio is in the heart of the village of Tweed and focuses on textiles created “with a twist of wist and whimsy”. Savannah is primarily a weaver and offers woven pieces that range from clothing and apparel to household textiles and display pieces. Savannah also sells her hand dyed fiber and yarn alongside whatever artistic medium has caught her attention from woven baskets of willow and ash to ceramics to mixed media pieces. When she isn’t in her studio she can be found in her urban permaculture garden growing dye plants for her fiber dyeing processes and medicinal plants for herbal remedies.
Her studio is open by appointment, and online via her website. She periodically offers one on one classes and is working towards offering classes to small groups of 2-3 people.
