About T&AAC

Since 2006, our vision has been to enrich the cultural life of the community by promoting awareness of and appreciation for all of the arts. T&AAC is a volunteer organization, and membership is open to all – artists or those who support the arts. We are a registered charity, and tax receipts are issued for both memberships and donations. T&AAC has been sharing information about arts events, programs and artists primarily via social media. Check out #tweedarts! Our website also provides information about what we are up to. We had a great season of events this past year, and are proud of supporting initiatives such as the Tweed & Area Chamber of Commerce’s fire hydrant painting and their Tweed & Area Artisan Road Trip; the Tweed & Area Studio Tour; the Tweed Summer Youth Theatre; and ‘That Art Thing’.

2018 – A Year of Gratitude!

We are grateful to Tweed Legion Branch 428 for their generous $1,000 donation from the Bill Smith Memorial Fund!

Donors

This year, the T&AAC received donations that supported the Marble Arts Student Theatre and the essential repairs to the MAC. We are so grateful to individuals including visitors (from as far away as Texas!), community members, and those attending a July garden party fundraiser hosted by Don DeGenova and Dr. Charles Mustard. The Municipality of Tweed, local service clubs and organizations such as the Tweed Lions, Tweed Legion Branch 428, the Kiwanis Club of Tweed, Tweed & Company Theatre, and the Tweed Festival of Trees have also been extremely supportive. Please know that we are very appreciative of all the donations by so many others.

Volunteers

Thanks also to the volunteers that help us out in so many different ways – we couldn’t do it without you! Community members assist with staffing various performances at the MAC or planning and participating in Art in the Park and the fish fry, the Marble Arts Student Theatre, the Marble Arts Players productions, and the Tweed Festival of Trees. If you have some spare time and are interested in helping us out, please contact us!

funding progress

Marble Arts Centre –Update #6

A key priority this year for the Centre was to remove the bell and install a reinforcing floor. This project was completed mid-July with the safety-related restrictions on use of the MAC lifted shortly thereafter. Remaining essential work includes electrical upgrades (to improve audience/performer experience as well as safety), and drainage improvements to divert water flow from the roof/driveway away from the building. As of December 15, 2018 we are at 75 % of our fundraising goal!

We are also reviewing potential opportunities for grants from foundations, other organizations, and government programs. Your support through membership, attendance at events/fundraisers, and donations is very much appreciated. We hope you will consider the T&AAC if you are looking for that year-end charitable donation.

Upcoming 2019 Season Preview

Remember – your attendance at T&AAC events provides not only great entertainment, it supports local arts, and the proceeds help offset T&AAC operating costs and any remaining essential work at the Marble Arts Centre. We will be releasing more details in January, but here is a sneak peak of 2019 – we are very excited!

Red Dirt Skinners

Tweed & Co. Theatre (https://tweedandcompany.com ) are returning to the MAC with the critically acclaimed ‘Ghostlight’ on April 13 & 14, and the hilarious ‘Stag and Doe’ from July 10 to 14!

We will ‘Spring into Summer’ on May 18 with a Fish Fry lunch, and Tweed & Co. will host a concert with up and coming singer/songwriter Jessica Wilson that evening – all at Kiwanis Club of Tweed’s beautiful Pavilion.

The highly acclaimed ‘Red Dirt Skinners’ are appearing June 15 – this will be a great show!

Your favourites will also return, including the Alberta Young Memorial Jamboree on May 3; Marble Arts Student Theatre shows on April 27 and December 7; ‘Solstice, Anyone?’ in June; and Art in the Park & a Fish Fry on August 3.

There are also some surprises and new performers in the works for 2019. We love to hear your ideas, and continuously look at ways to work together with others to advance the arts in Tweed and Area!

T&AAC Membership & Sponsorship

We are always seeking to grow our membership, and seek donations/sponsorships that can support the programming we can offer in the community, offset our modest operating expenses, and to continue with improvements to the MAC. Memberships and donations are eligible for tax receipts.

New T&AAC Board

The Board was elected at the September Annual General Meeting. A big shout-out to returning and new Board members:
