T&AAC in the Community

Since 2006, the T&AAC has enriched the cultural life of the community by promoting awareness of and appreciation for the arts. The T&AAC was founded on the belief that the arts are for everyone. Our vision is to enrich the cultural life of the community by promoting awareness of and appreciation for all of the arts. T&AAC is a volunteer organization, and membership is open to all – artists or those who support the arts. T&AAC is a registered charity; tax receipts are issued for memberships and donations.
T&AAC has been sharing information about arts-related events, programs and artists primarily via social media on Facebook and Twitter; recently we joined Instagram. Check the hashtag #tweedarts! Our website provides information about what we are up to.

T&AAC has been supporting initiatives such as the Tweed & Area Chamber of Commerce’s fire hydrant painting and their Tweed & Area Artisan Road Road Trip, the Tweed & Area Studio Tour, the Tweed Summer Youth Theatre, and ‘That Art Thing’. Each of the shows at the Marble Arts Center (MAC) this spring have wowed full houses. The Alberta Young Memorial Jamboree hosted by the Young Family Band in May at the MAC raised almost $900 for the Gateway Community Jazz Ensemble! We hope to continue this great community support at the upcoming Marble Arts Players program June 22 & 23.

Marble Arts Centre – Community Update

In May, T&AAC learned that the main foyer/bell tower at the Marble Arts Centre (MAC), located in Actinolite, has some structural issues that has resulted in our taking a decision to re-locate upcoming events during the period May to August 2018. We apologize to our partners for any inconvenience, but safety is paramount. We have hired an expert to identify the needed work, timelines and potential costs to return the MAC to full use. We will keep the community posted on our progress and planned fund-raising activities to cover these unexpected costs!
