SPRING 2018 NEWSLETTER
APRIL 2018

What’s happening with the Tweed & Area Arts Council (T&AAC), you ask? Since 2006, the T&AAC has enriched the cultural life of the community by promoting awareness of and appreciation for the arts. The T&AAC was founded on the belief that the arts are for everyone. Our vision is to enrich the cultural life of the community by promoting awareness of and appreciation for all of the arts. T&AAC is a volunteer organization, and membership is open to all – artists or those who support the arts. T&AAC is a registered charity; tax receipts are issued for memberships and donations.

2018 Season Opener – The Rebel of Hungerford

We had a sold out show at the Marble Arts Centre (MAC) for ‘The Rebel of Hungerford’...Congratulations to playwright, performer and T&AAC Board member Mark Lesage!

Improvements at MAC- Trillium Grant

In February 2017, the T&AAC was awarded a $15,300 grant from the Ontario 150 Capital Program of the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The grant, combined with money from T&AAC, was used to improve the Marble Arts Centre. Over the past year, a new outdoor sign was purchased and erected, main theatre and studio windows were refurbished, water-damaged sills and the entrance foyer was repaired and repainted, the entrance to the basement was weather sealed and resurfaced, new stage lighting was purchased, drapes and control tracks were upgraded, the floor in the studio was retiled, and the main storage area upgraded. While there remains additional work to do, the funds resulted in significant upgrades to the 151-year-old facility. Thank you!

T&AAC Membership & Sponsorship

We are always seeking to grow our membership, and seek donations/sponsorships that can support the programming we can offer in the community, offset our modest operating expenses, and to continue with improvements to the MAC. Memberships and donations are eligible for tax receipts.

Keeping Up With the Arts Council!

The T&AAC is a member of the Quinte Arts Council, and the Tweed & Area Chamber of Commerce. We are always looking for ways to partner with other organizations or individuals to support the arts in our community. If you or your organization has ideas - large or small - please contact us.
